PRESS RELEASE LONG
Salome Moana
(Chamber Jazz-Pop)
From filigree to powerful - the Swiss jazz singer Salome Moana explores the facets of chamber jazz-pop. Dancing rhythms accompany sensitive lyrics, improvisations lead to subtle arrangements.
With a sensitive voice, the Solothurn native tells of love and renunciation, of loneliness and joie de vivre. The songs - passionately interpreted in a quintet - are touching and resonate for a long time.
Salome Moana is accompanied by four sound artists. Like the singer, pianist David Cogliatti, drummer Marton Juhasz, baritone saxophonist/bass clarinetist Kira Linn and bass guitarist Marc Mezgolits studied at the Jazzcampus Basel.

ARTISTIC BIOGRAPHY
Salome Moana (*1994) is a Swiss singer, composer and vocal pedagogue from Solothurn.
With her self-produced debut album "Delicate" (released in October 2020), the young jazz musician presented mainly original compositions as well as arranged standards, stylistically in the chamber jazz-pop niche.
She recorded her debut album with her quintet, with which she is currently touring Swiss stages with new music. In June 2022 Salome Moana was awarded a music award from the canton of Solothurn in Switzerland.
In November 2022 she recorded a live EP of arranged standards with the Salome Moana Trio, which will be released in 2023.
She has also been performing concerts with pianist David Cogliatti as a vocal-piano duo since 2015 (Blue Balls Festival, Kulturm..). As a sidewoman she is active in various jazz formations (Dimitri Monstein Ensemble, Rapahel Jost's Swinging Christmas).
In June 2017 she graduated with a "Bachelor of Arts in Music" in jazz singing (minor: piano and classical singing) from the Musikhochschule Basel (Jazzcampus).
In August 2019 followed the "Master in Music Pedagogy", also at the Jazzcampus, which she completed with excellence. There she studied with Efrat Alony, Lisette Spinnler, Jorge Rossy, Larry Grenadier, Adrian Mears and Andy Scherrer, among others.
She was privileged to participate as one of 6 winners at SOFIA (Support Of Female Improvising Artists) in March 2018 in Zurich. For the 2020 edition of SOFIA, Salome was hired as a juror.
In March 2019, Salome traveled to New York and Boston for an intensive musical residency where she took vocal lessons from Theo Bleckmann, Jeannie Lovetri, Thana Alexa and Jay Clayton, among others. During her stay in New York, the singer worked on compositions for her first album.
Since 2017 she has been teaching solo singing at the Music School Birsfelden. In the summer of 2023, Salome Moana will be joining the vocal faculty at the Kantonsschule Solothurn.
